BIO
It was January 2007 Jyväskylä, Finland. We were hanging out in a bar celebrating something. Our then current band was going through a little slow phase so we decided to form a new group for killing time. Beer and a side project. No epic D-beat warrior quests. As cliché as it was from that scene would become Arrestum.
We started out as a four piece group: Juho, Aapo, Jaakko and Dave. The plan was just to play fast hardcore. After a couple of months we were already in the studio recording a seven song mess of hardcore, punk and grind. It was our first demo called Battle Royalle. Right away after that we played our first show. People moshed and we had fun.
Through playing shows all over Finland and rehearsing a lot, our sound developed more solid and consistent with darker melodies. We hit the studio again in the winter of 2008 and around midday the self titled EP was done. Moshpit Tragedy Records from Canada released it as a digital download and more people heard our tunes.
For a while we'd been talking about having a second guitar player and the possibilities it could bring to the table. We asked our friend Tommi from Hangover Overdose to join in. He said yes, we said great. Our sound became bigger with richer melodies and the songs got more depth and our shows became better also.
In 2009 we did a fun tour around Finland and a few shows here and there and once again it was time for some recording. This time we got progressive and booked the studio for a few hours more than we were used to. From that session became When The Missiles Cut The Sunlight. We couldn't find a releaser and couldn't put it out ourselves and so it just got forgotten in some drawer. After almost two years our friend Mika from Ruori Records released The Missiles as a cassette. The analog release brought the best out of The Missiles.
In 2010 we decided to take a little break and concentrate on other bands and such. Accidentally the break got longer and longer and in the summer of 2011 when we started to practice again, Tommi moved abroad. Luckily we found Heikki to stand-in. Played our first show after the break in November 2011 and started to write the next release. It's been a blast. Stay tuned!
